Georges Seurat was born in Paris on December 2, 1859. Growing up, he
disliked the irregular brushstrokes that made up impressionism. Because he
didn't want to paint like other impressionists, Seurat developed a more
scientific technique he called pointillism. This technique involved
applying hundreds and thousands of small, colorful dots that would blend
together to form different images. Seurat loved to paint people.
Unfortunately, he died a young man on March 29, 1891.
